A hundred shades of brown… mountains and a partially frozen Indus River in Ladakh, during winter months.
We were driving by when I saw this bend in the river. I had to stop to photograph this. It required me coming down a steep slope and leaning dangerously to have the river as much towards the center of the frame as possible.
I have travelled to Ladakh in winter months in three occasions in the past. A few stories on Ladakh in winters:
Last December, I spent a few days in Jaipur exploring some interesting places in the city and in the periphery. One of those days, we visited this street where they have several shops making and selling kites. The narrow streets filled with kites made a beautiful decor.
For the uninitiated, Dev Diwali is a festival celebrated a fortnight after Deepavali, on the Karthika Poornima day.
On this day, Varanasi’s famed ghats leading to the river take a different colour. An entire three-kilometer stretch is lit with lamps while fireworks decorate the sky. It’s a spectacle that one should see to believe!
