HIGH SHUTTER SPEEDS

I had an impression that shutter speeds above 1/2000sec are never used and it makes no sense to have shutter speeds as high as 1/4000 or even more than that. For the first time, I happen to see a very good picture taken at a very high shutter speed of 1/6400 sec. Indeed, it seems to be useful when you are shooting with sun is taking up the center of your frame.
