At Hemakuta Hill in Hampi, the boulders were glowing beautifully in the excellent evening light. I found a small depression in the rocks that was filled with previous day’s rain. It beautifully reflected the boulders, helping me make this image.
On a cold winter morning, the caretaker monk showed us around the prayer halls and temples at Stakna Monastery, Ladakh.
The photograph was made using the natural light coming from the window. It was fairly dark in the room, and necessitated photographing at a high ISO. This images was made with ISO set to 3200 and shutter speed of 1/13 sec. Making such images often requires a camera that can produce good quality images even at higher ISOs.
This prayer wheel was located in a small room just outside the monastery at Chakung Village, Sikkim. The light peeping in through the window to the right was brilliant, as if it was specifically planned for making a good photograph. The red paint and the array of lamps helped in adding a touch of brightness to the room. The place was empty when I reached here, and I distinctly felt a need for some life to portray the prayer wheels at its best. I found this young chap playing outside his house, eager to make friends with us strangers and happy to pose for the camera. I pulled him in to the room of the prayer wheel and asked him to turn the wheel for me.
